Hey, everyone, I'm Ellen pleased to meet you,
I create beautiful gothic imagery with a pinch of colour and a dash of magic. They mainly come out as oil paintings or colour pencil drawings.
You love beautiful things and believe magic has never truly left you, let my art tell you stories of creatures not of this world, but you secretly hope they do.
While others dreamt of being rescued by princes, you imagined what it would be like to be a siren of the waves, a nymph of the trees or a vampire of the night. Or perhaps you daydreamed of growing wings to just escape it all.
Then you are in good company.
Here you can find out a little bit more about me.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
What inspires you to create?
When I was young I grew up with my nose buried in Fairy Tales and Mythology books. In my own art, I like to try and capture a bit of magic and wonder in them like I used to feel when I read those stories.
I also used to suffer from awful nightmares of decaying corpses and other frightful things, so much so I would rarely sleep.
Instead of letting it get me down I channelled this into my artwork, turning the things that used to frighten me into beautiful magical creatures.
I think it's wrong that there is so much negativity in the world, I want to morph it into something positive and beautiful.
I love to create with juxtaposing ideas or themes, beauty and death is a reoccurring theme in my work.
The female form features a lot in my art, to me woman are a perfect representation of conflicting ideas. Soft and Feminine/Harsh and Cruel, Nurturing/Killers, Beautiful/Deadly. There is a reason our ancestors attributed woman to the sea/earth/weather, being a life giver and taker.
I also have a love of nature and enjoy walks through the woods (when the UK weather isn't too harsh) and gazing up at the moons and stars. I find when I'm going through a creative block these things always help inspire me with new ideas.
